The Scott Haldane Foundation offers a structured series of basic diving medicine courses that together form a complete training pathway in diving medicine.
By successfully completing all four basic SHF courses, participants qualify as:
Medical Examiner of Divers (MED) in accordance with internationally recognised ECHM/EDTC standards.
A level 1 - Medical Examiner of Divers (MED):
1. Physiology & Pathology of Diving
Understand the fundamental mechanisms of diving and hyperbaric exposure.
2. Diving Technology & Safety
Gain insight into diving systems, operations, and safety management from a medical perspective.
3. Diving Accidents & Emergency Management
Develop the ability to recognise and manage diving-related injuries and decompression illness.
4. Fitness to Dive Assessment
Apply clinical judgement to assess and certify divers safely and responsibly.
Successful completion of the Fitness to Dive course is the last step towards certification as a Medical Examiner of Divers.
Participation in the Fitness To Dive course requires prior successful completion of:
